A PROJECT WITH TEENAGERS, ABOUT TEENAGERS; ROOTS AND WINGS by Berna Mansuroðlu
The idea
We had wanted to get involved in a Comenius project for a long time, but the main stimulation was one of our parents’ suggestion. Thanks to Halime Balcý, the professor in Çukurova University, suggested providing help, and introduced us Cavidan Çoltu Ýmren. With their great help and effort, we started to work on the idea, and after the long and hard work and brainstorming, we had the idea; Working on Teenage Problems.

How we got it started?
As soon as we agreed on the topic, we started to work. We prepared our draft, and started to look for partners. We wanted to be ready before we started the process of finding partners.
Our partners
I had already known Mrs Katarzyna Jakubowicz from Poland and Elvira Saoursa from Portugal because of another project we worked together. Their students had exchanged emails and letters with our students so when I asked them if they would like to participate in our project, they gladly accepted. Mrs Cavidan Ýmren Çoltu helped us to find partners from Germany and Greece. All the schools we proposed to take parts agreed and a very fast email chain started.

Preparatory visit
Mrs Ingrid Markmann came to Turkey for preparatory visit. We worked really hard for three days and finished writing most of the project application form.
We also had a chance to show Mrs. Markmann our school and our city. She said she really liked the city and she was amazed by our school.
Application form
The most complicated part was to prepare the application form. There were so many pages to fill in very carefully, and if we had not been careful enough, we could have lost the chance of getting an approval from our National Agencies. So it was vitally important to prepare it properly.
We got it!
After sending the application form, a long and stressful period started. In August we had the results. We emailed our partners to tell them about the good news! We had got it! Our project was approved by The National Agency and since we were the coordinator, all of our partners had automatically been involved. We all were very happy to be able to achieve our goal after long and hard work. But we all knew one thing; An even harder and challenging but also wonderful period was just starting.
